Info on Scavo Glass
This technique is called “frosted glass” and it was introduced in the early 1950s in the island of
Murano by glass artists in order to obtain an archeological effect typical of objects found underground after a very long time.
During the manufacture of the glass item a mixture of several powders, by the glass artist still kept secretly, is fused at a temperature of about 800°C on the surface of the glass object.
I don't see many Scavo Glass pieces around.
These are quite special and rare.
